The temple is 80 km away from Kurnool district.The shrine is situated on the Rishabagiri hills on the south bank of the Krishna river in Karnool District. A Special Feature in this Siva Temple is that any Devotee,irrespective of Caste and creed,can touch the Lord and worship him. The Main Temple with four lofty towers was built by the Vijayanagar King Harihara Raya ( 1404 -1405 A.D.). As one enters the temple ther is an exquisitely called 'Mukhamandapa' with a huge monolithic Nandhi. The walls of the outer corridors are dotted with saome of the finest bas-reliefs.Within the Temple there are smaller Shrines dedicated to Sahasra Linga,Panchapandavas and Vata Vriksha. It has one of the twelve Jyotirlingams in India.
